Versus: A Close-Coupled WC Design by Vasil Velchev

An Extravagant Blend of Form and Function

The inspiration for Versus came from Vasil Velchev's desire to create something that reflects his own name. The initial idea was to shape the WC like the letter "V," representing the designer's profile and the internal tank. However, as the design evolved, functional considerations led to modifications, resulting in the unique close-coupled WC we see today.

What sets Versus apart from other designs is its extravagant aesthetic combined with higher efficiency and economy. The tilted tank design allows for easier flushing compared to traditional 90-degree tanks, increasing the velocity, pressure, and force of the water. Additionally, Versus offers three flush volumes, enabling more efficient water usage. The puzzle-type seat and cover reduce unnecessary overlapping, saving materials without compromising comfort.

The realization of Versus involved extensive research and testing. Fluid analysis was conducted during the CAD build, and the designer sought the expertise of a specialist for consultation. Live tests were also performed to determine the most suitable material for production, considering options such as ceramic and acrylic.

With dimensions of 400mm in length, 775mm in projection, and 790mm in height, Versus is designed to fit seamlessly into any bathroom space. Its sleek and modern appearance, combined with its innovative features, make it a standout piece of bathroom furniture.

Versus was developed over the course of almost a year in Bulgaria, Europe. Throughout the design process, the challenge was to maintain the original V-shape while incorporating technical and ergonomic transformations. The result is a WC that not only meets functional requirements but also adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any bathroom.

Versus has been recognized for its outstanding design and functionality. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category in 2014. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
